... For Unto Us A Child Is Born... Children’s Service To Open Masons Will Lutheran Christmas Festival The blessed Christmas festival will be celebrated in the true meaning of Christmas at Grace Lutheran Church with special serv- ices of worship for people of all ages. The members and ‘friends of Grace Lutheran Church, young and old alike, will have the opportuni- ty to worship Christ, the new-born King, and thereby celebrate Christ- mas in the most fitting and proper way. The special services at Grace Lutheran, which is located at Flag- ler Avenue and Tenth Street, will begin on Friday evening at 7:00 P.m. with a special service of wor- ship by.the children of the Sunday School department of the Church. Children’s Service This service will be a presenta- tion of the Christmas story in song, recitations, and in picture. The story of Christmas with the true meaning of the birth of the Savior, and the true meaning of the Christmas tree, the lights, the exchange of gifts, will be told and shown in the program which is en- titled: “Gather Round the Christ- mas Tree.” This service will be of special interest to children. Christmas Eve On Friday evening, at 11:00 p.m., the annual Christmas Eve Candle- light Service will be held. In the soft and glimmering light of the candles which will be used to beau- tify the Church during the Christ- mas season, the Christ Child will be ‘worshipped in song, by Scrip- ture readings, and a short medita- tion by the pastor. “Christmas Lights” will be the theme for this service. The Church choir, under the direction of Mr. Donald Sagehorn, will sing a num- ber of hymns to aid in this wor- ship service. Candlelight Ceremony Included in this service will be a candlelighting ceremony in which all the members will light candles followed by the singing of “Silent Night, Holy Night!” On Christmas Day a_ special Festival Service will be held at 10:00 o’clock in the morning. The pastor of the congregation will speak on the subject: “Christmas is in the Heart.” : Sunday, December 26, services will be conducted at the regular hours, 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The pastor’s message will _be: “Sons and Heirs through Christ. Sunday School classes and Adult Bible Class will be held at 9:45 ‘a.m, The children of the Sunday School Department will bel taught the Christmas story through a mo- tion picture entitled: “The Birth of avior.”” be members of Grace Lutheran Church invite the friends and visi- tors to our community to join with them in worshipping Christ, the Savior. Congregational Church Calls Rev. Woodruff The members of the First Con- gregational Church have called the Reverend Robert T. Moses worshipped God before he went on his mission to lead. the children of Israel out of bondage. Isaiah worshipped God in an hour of national crises. He felt the need of leading the people of his times in a revival of righteousness. The wise men came in searc! of the Babe, who had been born to be a king. After they wor- shipped him they went back home by another way. Some have said that men always go home by an- other way after they worship God for it is truly the realization on God’s presence. College Students On Sunday evening the worship service at the First Methodist Church will be given over to the observance of Student Recognition. The service will be under the lead- ership of Miss Evelyn Nettles of Florida State University. Others to take part in the pro- gram will be Miss June Yates and Billy Osterhoudt also of Florida State Univ., Miss Roberta Van Alen of Ithica College, Miss Delia Touchton of Florida Southern Col- lege, Hoke Holcomb, Jr. of Duke University, and Bruce Cleare, Jr. of the University of Florida. The pastor, J. Paul Touchton, stated that he welcomes this op- portunity for the members of the congregation to learn of the fine work being done in following the students to the campus that the demands of Christ may be held up before the youth in the years of college. The choir of Stone Church ‘will sing on Sunday morning “Birth- day of the King.” And in the even- ing the anthem will be “Cantique Noel.” Only what feeds and fills the sen- timent with unworldliness, can give peace and good will towards men, —Mary Baker Eddy. nessee, and took his theological training at Duke Divinity School. Mr. and Mrs, Woodruff bring to Key West with them their daugh- ter, Roberta. They also have a married daughter living in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and a son, who is an instructor in the Air force, stationed at Keesler Air- force Base, Mississippi. Young People’s Y.P.E., Thursday, 7:30 P.M. At the 10:50 a.m. service Sunday morning, at the Fleming St. Methodist church. the Reverend James E. Statham will speak on the “Spiritual Resources for the New Year.” His text is from Matt. 6:20, “But lap up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thiev- es do not break through and steal.” All of us are interested in trea- sures. We desire to live above the level of mere existence where troubles plague and destroy and thieves threaten to steal. Disciple Speaks The disciple here is telling about that kind of possession, the spiritu- al values of life. Lest-we find our- selves spiritually poverty stricken in a time of need we must lay up these values. “God Meeting Our Needs” is the sermon topic for the evening serv- ice beginning at 7:30. In the par- able of the friend at midnight, we read that “He will rise and give his as many as he needeth.” Al- though we notice that this promise has its limits, we do thrill at the promise that God will answer prayer. Jesus’ Answer This is the climax to the reply Jesus gave to the disciples in an- swer to a question about prayer. Thrilled by the prayer life of the Lord, they had asked of Him “Lord teach us to pray.” Then it was that he told the story of the man in need at midnight go- ing to a neighbor for a favor. Children up to six are welcome in the nursery during the hours of service and are in the competent care of Mrs. Lucille Gomez. A candle light service will be held on New Year’s eve at 11 p.m. Come celebrate the beginning of the new year in reverent song and worship. .
