Carbonell, who said that he was approached by a committee of in- terested citizens, added that he will bring up the matter at a meeting of the city commision scheduled for next Monday evening. Reason for his stand, Carbonell said, is the fact that civilian work- ers on the. Naval Station are not allowed to take their cars on gov- ernment property when they report for work. They have been parking them on Whitehead St. “That we provide parking for the public is more important than merely getting revenue from park- ing meters for the city,” Carbonell continued. “We should study the parking meter situation very carefully be- fore we act rashly,” he added.
