New Members |New Legionnaires Are Inducted Into Legion In an impressive ceremony con- ducted by the Key West Guard of 24° Honor, 11 new members were wel--| comed into the Arthur Sawyer Post: No. 28, American Legion, on Wed-. nesday evening at the Legion Home on Stock Island. The new members include: Claude B. Spear, Frank Loeblich, G. P. Had- die, J. B. Hebert, Clyde Williams, Ronald J. Stack, James Ecklof, Willis Bethel, Jr., Wendell Valen- tine, Richard Baker and Claude D. Valdez. Judson Stephens, chairmas of| the Christmas Party for childsen| of Legionnaires, announced tha’ the plans have been completed for} the event to get underway at 4) P.m. on Saturday, December 20th at the Post Home. An excellent program has been prepared includ- ing movies, clown acts, and other features. Legionnaire John W. Mil- ler will serve as Master of Cere- monies for this annual event. San- ta Claus will arrive during the Program and will present gifts to the children in attendance. The annual Christmas Party at the Old Folks Home will start at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve and the annual Legion’s Christmas Party at the Naval Hospital will get un- derway at 7:30 p.m., Chairman Herman Gordon announced. The ladies of Auxiliary Unit No. 28 were in attendance and brief business session was conducted by President Florence Gamble, An entertainment committee has| begn appointed to arrange all fu- ture entertainment for Legion- naires and consists of the follow-| ing: Judson Stephens, chairman; Members — Norman Kranich; Frank Romaguera; John Stratton; Frederick Pockrass and M. E. Lewis. Named to serve on the Post’s Building Committee were Paul L. Mesa, Jr., chairman; C. B. Har- vey, George J. Pernick and Carl L, Sawyer. 1st Vice Commander Norman Kranich announced that excellent Progress on the membership cam- paign is being attained and stated that Post Chaplain Judson’ Steph- ens was the winner of the No- vember membership getting con- test. The Key West Guard of Honor conducted a Post Everlasting Ceremony for Legionnaires Fran- cis W. Morrison and Philip Ber- nard Roberts who recently died. Evenis scheduled by the Enter- tainment of the Legionnaires dur- ing January are as follows: Jan. llth —-Barbecue Supper; Jan. 14th — -Astrology Show and January 30th — Shipwreck Dance. At the regular meeting of Jan- uary 28th, the Post Commander and members of the Marathon Post 154, American Legion, will be invited to attend. The occasion has been designated as Marathon Night. A special speaker for the meeting will be secured by the Entertainment Committee. The Post selected Chaplain Jud- son Stephens as the nominee for Junior Chamber of Commerce Dis- tinguished Service Award, in re- cognition of his outstanding ac- tivity in the Post on Community projects.
