Maribona resigned, he said, “due to conditions beyond my control.” The 25-year old officer faces a suit brought by ex-Navy Lieuten- ant James Kicklighter, who claims that Maribona “unlawful- ly and unjustly” assaulted him resulting in a broken arm which will seriously damage his pro- fessional career. Kicklighter was discharged from the service short- ly after the incident. He is cur- rently in residence at the Gra- dy Memorial Hospital in Ati % Georgia. The City of Key West is co-defendant in the case. Maribona faces charges of as- sult and violent battery on the night of September 17th. The in- cident occurred on Duval Street in a skirmish with a companion of Kicklighter. Higgs, 43, 2824 Seidenberg Avenue, died shortly after being admitted to the Monroe County Gen. eral Hospital after swallowing an unidentified poisom early last evening. The attending physician said that he “assumed the poison was administered accidentally.” Higgs was found mortally ill in his home by relatives and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance where he died without regaining consciousness. Investigating offi- cials said that a bottle which had contained a “very strong acid” was found in the Higgs home but that they were Turkey For The School Kids Today More than 1,000 Monroe county | school children ate turkey for lunch today in all the schools which have cafeterias, Superintendent of Public Instruction Horace O’Bry- ant said today. The man’s wife, Mrs. Faye Higgs who is employed at a local grocery store rushed to the mar’s Coroner Roy Hamlin said today that no autopsy will be scheduled. Higgs was at one time employ- ed by the Key West Housing Authority.
