= Vou X.—No. 52 Such has been the verdict of the many who have investigated the phenomenal bargains which we are offering We are both pleased and suprised at the number who are taking advantage of this exceptional opportunity for buy- ers in Grand Rapids. As stated last week this is not a “remnant sale” nor a “clean-up” nora “dump sale”, but a strictly square and fair reduction-in-price sale of new and seasonable goods. 5 tional paiccs are that our cold and backward weather has prevented many from buying their usual amount of sum- mer goods and we realize that it must now be the prices that shall induce them to buy. Our reason: s for making these excep: We Propose Therefore The Making of Such a Low Price as to move the goods. Do you want to know more on the subject? If so consult the book on Slang, now in preparation by a Columbian professor, or better still use Chase & Sanborn’s: Seal Brand Coffee and you will know at once the meaning of “the real thing.” » The real thing in coffee is the kind that produces a deep port wine color before cream and a rich golden after cream—only real coffee will do this. Chase & Sanborn’s high grade coffees which are delivered to you in richly colored parchment lined bags are the best that money can buy. SEPTEMBER 25TH AND 26TH| Are The Dates Fixed For The County Fair of 992 —Itasea Will Be Repre- sented at The State Fair With a Complete Exhibit. The meeting held last Tuesday afternoon was wellattended and the in- terest shown augurs well for the suc- cess of the coming county fair and also for the making of a state exhibit. Although the state fair is too early for this section of the state to do itself justice, yet it is believed that creals, grasses and vegetables will be sufficiently advanced at that time to enable the committee in charge to make a very creditable showing and through the advertising thus done much benefit will result tu the county, Secretary Clair and E. N. Remer were appointed a committee on ways and means with directions to be prepared the county fair will be held this year. Phe secretary was instructed to ap- point a committee of fifteen mem- bers—resideuts of different sections of the county—on exhibition. It will be the duty of these members to take an active interest in seeing that the best agricultural products of their respective sections is forwarded to Grand Rapids in time for shipment to Hamlin by the first of September. If the committee on ways and means are successful in their efferts to raise funds with which tc make a state ex- hibit, Secretary Clair will af once be gin the preparation of several articles descriptive of the county and its {the state fair at Hamlin. This pro- \ject cannot be carried out success- fully without the aid of every citizen who is in a position to lend assistance. Especially the farmers of the county must be relied upon and it is to them that the officers will look to make both the county fair and the display at Hamlin what they should be. The president, secretary and treas- urer were authorized to at once revise and prepare the premium list and cause it tu be printed as early as sible for distribution. ‘The secre- tary will aim tosend a copy of the. list to as many farmers and_others as he will be able to reach as soon as the work is turned out by the printer. In this way interest in the county fair will be created early in the sea- son and everyone will be made ac- quainted with the premiums offered. Another ‘matter of equal importan- ce—county; fair grounds—was taken up and considered on Tuesday after- noon, and it promises t» yield results ina very substantial manner at an early date. This will be the ninth anaual fair held in Itasca county and yet the association does net own a foot of land. Heretofore the grounds used on the south side of the river have been rented at a nominal figure. It is apparent that the time has ar- rived when definite action must be taken and suitable grounds bought for fairpurposes.
