B—4 =x S Recent Weddings Of Interest Miss Mary Murphy Becomes Bride of Mr. Buckingham (Continued From Page B-3.) Key, was gowned in turquoise blue tulle and carried Joanna Hill roses. Lt. Onnie Lattu was the best man and the ushers were Mr. Robert Weaver, brother of the bride, and Mr. Roc Colosimo. The ceremony took place in the drawing room before an improvised altar banked with white lilies, snap- dragons, palms and Cybotium ferns. At the reception the bride and bridegroom were assisted in receiv- ing by their parents. The bride’s mother wore dusty pink marqui- sette and a corsage of orchids and the bridegroom’s mother chose black lace, with which she wore a corsage of orchids. For traveling the bride wore a toast brown wool ensemble with brown accessories and kolinsky furs. After an extensive motor trip through the Southwestern States they will be at home at 758 South Ardmore avenue, Los Angeles. Among the out-of-town guests were Maj. and Mrs. Thomas Holland of Atlanta, Mrs. Ernest Cornell of Lakewood, Ohio; Mrs. Harry Heill- man and Mr. Leo McDonnell of De- troit, Mr. Ted Smith of San Fran- cisco and Mr. Ira Milton Jones of Milwaukee. The bride is a graduate of George Washington University and a mem- ber of Chi Omega. Mr. Holland is a graduate of the University of Cali- fornia and the Harvard School of Business Administration. He is a member of the Sigma Phi Sigma Fraternity. Miss Mary Bateman Wed to Mr. Freeland. Miss Mary E. Bateman, daughter of Mrs. Dora Bateman of Seat Pleas- ant, Md., and Mr. Donald Freeland, son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Free- land of Wesley Heights, were mar- ried April 24 at 4 p.m. in the Park- side Methodist Church in Baltimore. The Rev. Mr. Delaplane officiated and only members of the immediate families were present. Alden Will Entertain Mrs. Charles Stuart Alden will entertain #omorrow at luncheon in honor of Dr. Joel E. Goldthwait and Dr. Lloyd T. Brown of Boston. The luncheon will precede the lec- tures the visiting doctors will give at 3:30 o'clock tomorrow at Mrs. Alden’s home. Mrs. George F. Martin Heads 20th Century Club Mrs. Montgomery Given Jubilee Year Volume Mrs. Lawrence Martin was unan- Twentieth Century Club yesterday to succeed Mrs. Edward B. Mont- gomery, who has completed her two- year term. The last year of Mrs. Montgomery's administration was marked by numerous programs cele- brating the club’s golden anniver- sary, Mrs. Martin is the wife of Col. Martin, head of the Division of Maps of the Librdry of Congress. She is a graduate of Vassar College, holds a master’s and a doctor's de- ‘|gree from the Chicago University and has won considerable recogni- tion as scientists, She assisted her husband while he was geographer at the Institute of Politics, Williams- town, Mass., where she conducted an open confererce on the sov- ereignty of the polar regions. She is a member of the Society of Wom- en Geographers and of the Wash- ington Club and has been deeply in- terested in the Parent-Teacher As- sociation and in public welfare work.
