WASHINGTON, Investment Trusts Assail Proposed S. E. C. Confrol By the Associated Press. Representatives of a group of in- vestment trusts attacked several key provisions of proposed regulatory legislation yesterday, contending they would give the Securities and Exchange Commission “‘dangerous” and “unnecessary” discretionary power. Testifying before a Senate bank- ing subcommittee, the witnesses conceded that regulation of the in- vestment trust industry was desir- but asserted the proposed method would hamper the business to the detriment of investors. The witnesses included Merrill Griswold, chairman of the Massa- chusetts Investors Trust of Boston; Manlon E. Traylor, president of Massachusetts Distributors, Inc., and Hugh Bullock, vice president of Calvin Bullock, a New York joint stock association. They expressed opposition to provisions of the bill which they said would: 1. Limit the capitalization of in- vestment companies. 2. Result in “bureaucratic censor- ship and endless red tape in con- nection with sales literature.” 3. Require annual election trustees. 4. Require separate directorships of and management for each company. 5. Authorize the S. E. C. to regu- late pricing and selling of shares of open-end companies, those which issue redeemable shares. C, THURSDAY, Scientlfically Trained Twin Trails One Who "Grew’ By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, April 18.—Jimmy and Johnny Woods, the behavioristic twins, are eight years old today and here is an unprofessional report of how they act. Both spent the first two years of their lives in the normal child de- velopment clinic of Columbia-Pres- byterian Medical Center. One re- ceived scientific guidance; the other Just grew. At a birthday interview, the fol- lowing occurred: Johnny smacked Jimmy's neck, and Jimmy c8untered with a wallop to Johnny’s back. It was disclosed that Johnny has been demoted a full year in school and is now behind Jimmy in his classes. | Jimmy said his marks were about | 80; Johnny interposed with “I get a hundred,” a remark which Jimmy said made his laugh. 1t was Johnny who got all the science and behavior training.
