The statement was made in re- sponse t0 numerous questions at Chest - headquarters. Artists, ama- teur or professional, may enter from any region served by the welfare organization. Typical Chest agen- cles in suburban areas are the Social Service Leagues of Alexan- dris,” Va, and Montgoméry and Prince Georus Counties, Md. The Boy Scouts, Community Chest agencies, are represented in the two adjoining Maryland counties and in Arlington County, Va. Art Students Invited. The Chest yesterday invited all the city’s art schools, and art de- partments in the colleges, to parti- cipate in the contest. The winner will receive $100 from a prize fund established by a private donor. Second place carries a grant of $50, and third place $25. A distin- guished panel of artists and Chest representatives will do the judging. ‘The design, Chest officials empha- sized, should sum up the spirit of service of the organization in a form simple enough to be used on Chest stationery and for other dis- play. Instructions for Composition. Here are instructions for com- petitors: All entries must be brought or mailed to The Evening Star, Elev- enth street and Pennsylvania ave- nue NW, on or before April 30. They must be accompanied by the contestant’s name, address, tele- phone number and school, if any. Designs may be executed in black or white or not more than two col- ors. Ink, charcoal, crayon, water color or other suitable medium will be permitted. All must be drawn or mounted on white cardboard measuring about 18 by 22 inches. A 2-inch border must be allowed.
