BY VICTOR EUBANK, Associated Press Financial Writer. NEW YORK. Oct. 29.—The stock market's recovery bulged wider today, although it encountered late selling opposition that cut down a morning upswing running to 7 or more points in leaders. Spurring buying forces was a revival of hope that the slash in margins de- creed by the Federal Reserve was more than a gesture of a friendlier Wash- ington attitude toward the financial sector and might indicate other steps would be taken to reassure “big busi- | ness” and awaken the long-slumbering capital market. The ticker tape was frequently in arrears as leading issues pushed for- ward and large blocks of shares changed hands during the proceedings. It also lagged on the retreat.
