Veieran Trouper M. Forney Reese was cast aptly in the title role of Charles S. Brooks’ “The Old Trouper,” wherein -n old father's disgust overcomes a yorng daughter's ambition. Mr. Ruese “carried” the production. His part, of course, made that almost inevitable, but there could have been a less than superb treatment. Mary Zvelyn Fuqua, Revue Producer Paul Taylor and Valet Wil- lian Draper were icceptable. It was the entry of the Langley Lambs, and the star directed. Graced with attractive set and au- thentic costumery, “The Hundreth Trick,” by Beulah Marie Dix, pre- sented by the Federal Bureau of In- vestigation Theater Group under Milton Freedman's direction, proved a creditable effort. Mr. Freedman, even as Mr. Reese, doubled as actor, and found adequate opportunity for his accomplished snarling to be loosed in the role of the English nobleman, seeking to extrac. the secret of a path which would make possible capture of an Irish stronghold. Alfred J. Francfort was convincing enough as the Irish leader, veteran of tor- tures, who poisons his less stoical younger brother to spare him the ordeal intended to wrest the secret from him. Clayton A. Braathen played the youth and Fordyce G. Lyman the | captain-lieutenant Completing the line-up was “Free | Wheeling,” from the quill of Dudley Jeskins and directed by Margaret Carmody, concerning itself with two | two actresses husbands who permit to wheel two babies in the park and THE EVENING two wives who do not like it. Samuel L. Schwartz and Chauncy Davis were the offending fellows; Mildred Hards and June Little the wives; Bernetta Hutchinson and Melba McKinny the show people. George W. Browning was a policeman. An unimportant but diverting bit. The preliminaries will be concluded Thursday evening at 8 o'clock. C.A M GROUP BUILDING AIRPORT | AT SUITLAND ELECTS P. C.
