A niche or two often adds artistic charm to the room—and they are qQuite the vogue. When the room is to be redecorated, such little recesses in the walls can be made at small expense and effort. ‘The space between regularly spaced studding will provide for a niche about 13 inches wide and as tall as desired— if there are no heat ducts, pipes or conduits in that particular place in the wall. Cut away the plastering and remove the lath from the desired area, then line the cavity with diamond-mesh flat metal lath, fashioning it to the desired shape. Nail it securely to studs and where necessary wire together. The plaster is easily applied, and the finished result will be most Ppleasing. After the room is redecorated few people will detect that the ariistic niche was an alteraton. Village N. 17th and Abingdon Sts.
