CY CUMMINGS DIES OF HEART AILMENT President of Lavrel Race Track Was Prominent in Political Circles. B & Biaff Correspondent of The Star. CHEVY CHASE, Md., July 9.—An- | drew J. (Cy) Cummings, 58, prom- inent in the sports world since the turn of the century and president of the Laurel race track, died early to- day at his home on Cummings lane here after a two-year illness. Suffering a chronic heart ailment, Mr. Cummings. who was a leader in State and national Democratic politi- cal circles, had been bedridden since early in April. He died in the house | where he was born. For the last 10 years, Mr. Cummings | | had been president of the Maryland State Fair Association and the Laurel track. Funeral services will be held Mon- day from the Church of the Blessed Sacrament here. Burial will be in Forest Glen Cemetery. Dr. Gregory, who was one of the few remaining members of the first class| of high school students in Washing- ton, the class of 1878, had been an employe of the Government for more than 50 years.
