A—12 *» 30 PLAYGROUND OPENED IN GAPITAL Six of Summer Areas for District Children Are New. ‘The District Playground Depart- ment today threw open 35 Summer playgrounds in various parts of the eity. Fifty vear-around playgrounds already are in operation. Miss Sibyl Baker, District play- grounds supervisor, said six of the Summer playgrounds are new, and new parks playgrounds have been created at Edgewood, Lincoln road and Channing street northeast, and Stanton, Fifth and C streets northeast. The six new grounds are: Brightwood, at Thirteenth street and Nicholson avenue; Ross, at R and Seventeenth streets; Shepherd, at Fourteenth street and Kalmia road; Woodridge, at Carlton and Central avenues southeast; Douglas-Simmons, at Pierce place and First street north- west, and Smothers, at Forty-second street and Benning road northeast.
