Walter Schoellkopf sailed away the first of the month with Mme. Fahim Kouchakji for London and the coronation. Walter wtilll_joln her as soon as he is able to finish up his many business affairs. Ann Schoellkopf is one of the most fascinating women we have ever known. She is exceedingly clever and up-to-the- minute on everything. Walter Schoellkopf has been in our diplomatic service for many years; he was the first secretary in our Embassy in Spain when the revolution broke out. We visited them in Madrid some years ago—and their house was a dream—uwith its tapestries, one or two Goyas, and beautiful old furniture. The rose garden inclosed behind tall walls was considered one of the best in Madrid. When they were stationed in the Argentine Ann wrote a most | interesting and comprehensive book on some of the historical char- of the Embassy, Comdr. Pierre Benech, who arrived yesterday in acters of that country. Unfortunately for their many Washington friends, the Schoellkopfs are seldom here—only for fleeting visits when they occupy their beautiful house which juts out into Rock Creek Park. One of the most difficult things we have had to do was to refuse Mrs. Schoellkopf’s wonderful invitation to visit her in London for the coronation. She has taken a large house on Eaton Square, complete with servants and motors. Months ago she reserved a suite for the entire week at a hotel, where she is having a superb view of the coronation procession. There luncheon was served today and Ann’s guests have viewed the thrilling pageant. . Miss Mary and Miss Helen Patten sailed in time for the fes- tivities to visit Mrs. Schoellkopf. They will have a glorious time for we doubt if there will be any American women in London who (Continued on Fourth Page.) 3212 14th Coronation Colors In DYNAMICS 5.95 Styles fit for a queen to add a touch of regal splendor to your Spring and Summer frocks.
