BY the Assoctated Press. NEW YORK, January 20.—The bond market received a better grade of sup- port today permitting a number of corporate liens to win back yester- day’s losses. Some of the larger gains were in response to improved action of the share list which reflected a more hope- ful feeling on the automobile strike situation. Central Foundry convertible 6s and Studebaker 6s soared up several points in the early trading. Youngstown Sheet & Tube 31zs and Pure Oil 4Y4s rose 1 or more. Gains in the rail divisions were most helpful to Rock Island general 4s, Chicago & Northwestern 43s, St. Paul 55, Erie 5s, Illinois Central 43;s | Missouri Pactfic 55 and Southern Rail- ‘way 4s. Some of the low-yield corporate is- sues were offered fractionally under yesterday's closings, and United States Governments continued the downward drift of recent sessions. Treasury 234s and 3s stood up fairly well; most others were down 1-32 to 5-32 of a point at midday. —_— DIVIDENDS ANNOUNCED NEW YORK.
