CITIZENS OPPOSE FILLING STATION West End Group Favors l’nrkinzl Lot Over Gas Service in Section. JPeeling that a parking lot was less Barmful to the community than a filling station, the West End Citizens’ Association voted to oppose the appli- eation for permission to establish a gasoline station at Twentieth street and Pennsylvania avenue at its meet- ing last night at Kidder Hall. Isadore May, owner of part of the property under consideration and a member of the association, told the group that the proposed filling station would be in no sense a blot on the community and would be far less un- sightly than the parking lot which he would be otherwise forced to make of the property. Charles L. Norris led the opposition by claiming that a perking lot, if more unsightly, was a more useful and less permanent project. THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, Other motions carried included one favoring the addition of 100 policemen to the District force and one commending the work of No. 3 precinct. SiXx new members were admitted. The group also heard Alexander Shapiro, transit company official, who answered questions on local transpor- tation. Wear White Rain Capes.
