B—16 HOLDING COMPANY AGREES TO REGISTER American Utilities Service Corp. of Savannah Latest to No- tify Commission. By the Associsted Press. Another holding company has capitulated and told the Securities commission it would register under the holding company act. This act provides for regulation of utility holding companies. Registra- tion is required as the first step toward regulation. The company which gave notice of registration is the American Utili- ties Service Corp., of Savannah, IlL, with assets of about $15,000,000 and subsidiaries in 18 States. Previously, it had obtained an injunction prevent- ing the commission from enforcing the act against it. Perry Crawford, president, in filing THE EVENING the notification, told the commission registration was “essential” in con- nection with proposed changes in his company’s capitalization. Under the act, an unregistered holding company cannot sell securities in Interstate commerce. Treasury Unit to Dine.
