Fractionally lower were Santa Fe 45, St. Paul 5s, North Western 4%s, Rock Island 4s, Hiram Walker 4%s, McKesson & Robbins 5 North American 5s, Pacific Gas 3%s, Shell Union 31:s, Texas Corp. 3'2s and Western Union 5s. Slightly improved were Chesapeake & Ohio 4'%s, Loew’s 3ls, National Dairy 3%s with warrants and Wal- worth 4s. In the United States Government sector losses of around 2-32 to 4-32 of a point ruled around midday. Losers were Treasury 31;s of 1946, the 27gs and the 27%s of 1959. e Washington Exchange SALES. NEW YORK, January 13.—The Edi- son Electric Institute today reported electric power production for the week ended January 9 was 2,244,030,000 kilowatt hours, an increase of 8.4 per cent over the preceding week. In the same week last year produc- tion totaled 1,854,874,000 Kkilowatt hours, but the institute pointed out the comparison, a drop of 21 per cent from the latest figure, was distorted because the week ended January 4, 1936, contained the new year holiday. When compared with the first full week of 1936, that ended January 11, the increase was 13.9 per cent. Percentage increases in the major geographic regions again was omitted because of calendar conditions. IThe Associated Press index of power production, with 1929-30 taken as 100, declined for the week ended Janu- ary 9 to 117.6 from 117.9 the previous for seasonal and long-term trend, | stood at 105.4 a year ago.
