HE President and Mrs. Roosevelt will entertain at a children’s party tomorrow afternoon at the White House for their little grandson, Curtis Roosevelt Dall, more familiarly known as Buzzie. Mrs. Roosevelt spent Christmas with her son, Mr. Franklin Delano Roogevelt, jr., in Boston, but no word has been announced as to her return to the Capital. The Secretary of State and Mrs. Cordell Hull are on the high seas en route from Argentina, where the Secretary attended the peace conference. Mrs. James A. Parley, wife of the Postmaster General, came to Washington yesterday for the debut of Miss Mary Senate Howes, and is expected to return to her New York residence today. The Japanese Ambassador and Mme. Saito will entertain a company of 30 at dinner tonight in the Embassy in honor of the newly appointed United States Ambassador to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and Mrs. Joseph E. Davies. The Soviet Am- bassador and Mme. Troyanovsky will be the ranking guests. The Brazilian Ambassador and Senora de Aranha will leave, Argentina about the middle of, next month for this country. NE of the most brilliant coming-out parties of this season took place yesterday afternoon at the Mayflower when the Assistant Postmaster General and Mrs. W. W. Howes, presented their daughter, Miss Mary Senate Howes, to society. The large company included many officials as well as members of the diplomatic and residential circles. In addition there were many out-of-town guests at the debut of this popular young woman. A gold kid belt with a tailored bow at the center fsent gave an additional chic touch to the gown. Mrs. Howes wore a gown of black vel- vet with a corsage bouquet of orchids. The debutante alternated her flowers during the afternoon carrying the various bouquets sent her by many of her friends. The debutante, known to her friends as Senate, atlended National Park Seminary for four years, com- pleting a general academic course last June. She was an honor student in journalism, showing marked interest and ability in short story writing, and her greatest ambition is to become a short story writer and perhaps & novelist. She is an accomplished mu- sician and in sports excels in riding and swimming. Miss Howes studied piano under Henry Smidt Gregor, & recognized composer and musician. She was president of the Journalism Club st National Park, also cheer leader and ‘song leader of her senior class, also senior of her sorority, in “The Swan. Mr. Howes has been a member of the Democratic National Committee for the past 13 years and served for four years as State’s attorney.
