- PREACHING GROUP COMING TO CAPITAL Meetings to Be Held Novem- ber 22-25—Dr. Jones | Talks on Air Sunday. The National Preaching Mission, which will reach Washington for a serles of inspirational meetings No- vember 22-25, will be given its formal start Sunday morning when Dr. E. Stanley Jones speaks over a national net- work from 9 to 9:30 am. WRC will carry this broadcast locally. Wilbur La Roe, jr., chairman of the Publicity Committee for the District, said today: “Christi- anity faces eco- nomic and social Dr. K. S Jones 0 erms of tre- mendous importance. The Preaching Mission will bring to Washington and the Nation the best and most virile Christian thought of today regarding these problems and their relation to personal religion.” Dr. Jones, who will speak in Wash- ington at the November meetings, will be one of a notable list of speakers, which will include Miss Muriel Lester of England, Dr. Ivan Lee Holt, Dr. George W. Truett, Dr. Edmund B. Chaffee, Dr. Rufus M. Jones and other nationally known speakers. The mission will open its national campaign at Albany, N. Y. Sunday, later visiting a number of cities, the tour extending as far west as Van- couver, British Columbia, after which the mission will come to Washington for the series of meetings preceding the final meeting at Madison Square Garden, New York, December 6. —_— Japan Buys Philippine Copper. Lauderdale yesterday the animal was accused by Mr. and Mrs. Abraham C. ‘Weinfeld, who live next door to the ‘| 1glesias residence at 3175 Porter street, six colored maids and at least two other neighbors. After Weinfeld signed papers is- sued against Miss Iglesias, a hearing was set for 9:30 am. next Thursday. Donna was defended by Miss Iglesias, who hurried home from California’ after recelving a letter of complaint from the Weinfelds; her cousin, Miss Betsy Lopez; a neighbor, Charles Love, and a policeman. Va, September 11.—Politics hold the cene ter of attention here tomorrow, with both political parties holding impor- tant sessions on policies affecting particularly the eastern part of the 'State. A Republican rally and ox roast is scheduled for the afternoon at which the principal State and national can- didates will speak, including Hugh Ike Shott for United States Senate, C. 8. Musser for the second district con- gressional post, Summers H. Sharp, candidate for Governor; Vernon E. Johnson, candidate for State auditor, and National Committeeman Walter 8. Hallanan, At the same time the Second Dis- trict Democratic Congressional Execu- tive Committee will be in session in the interest of the candidacy of Jen- nings Randolph for re-election.
