MISSING INFANT'S “FATHERAS6 AD Begs Pubic to Make It Easy * for Kidnapers to Open Negotiations. By the Associated Press. DETROIT, September 11.—The| ge:uflcken father of little Harry we, missing since last Saturday, apealed to the public todsy to give the kidnapers—if the 20-month-old bay is the victim of an abduction—a ¢lear path to open negotiations for his teturn. . ;_*Ever since our son has been miss- fng,” said Robert Browe, the father, *our house has been an attraction for hundreds of curious persons. It would be hard for any one to approach us with so many around. I am asking the merely curious if they will kindly stay away. We appreciate their sympathy, but we want to make it as easy as pos- aible for the boy's return.” Btill another appeal was issued by Acting Chief of Detectives William J. ©ollins, who said he did not have & single promising clue to the where- abouts of the baby boy who vanished from his carriage in Clark Park here. ¢ “Qur chief interest is in the safe re- furn of the baby,” he said. “If he is in the hands of kidnapers who fear to return him, I am appealing to them to turn the boy over to any clergyman they may choose.” Neighbors of the frantic parents provided another lead today, raising new hopes that the baby is still alive and in Detroit. Herman Semande and Arthur Arndt told detectives they saw the boy near his home on two oc- casions since the disappearance, in the arms of a man whom neither rec- ognized. The two young brothers took the baby for an airing. They left him to buy candy at a nearby store with money they said a woman had given | them. Authorities immediately ordered a new search of the neighborhood, al- ready combed by an army of Boy Scouts under the direction of student patrolmen. They said the men de- scribed the stranger carrying the baby | as being about 35 years old and 6 feet tall. He weighed about 165 pounds and was wearing a suit and hat of Oxford gray.
