ROOSEVELT will return to the White House tomorrow from her residence at Hyde Park, where she went after the close of the Democratic convention. The President’s wife will hold her next press conference Thurs- day morning at 11 o'clock. P Mrs. George H. Dern, wife of the Secretary of War, was hostess at a garden party yesterday afternoon at her home on Stéphenson place in honor of the delegates from Utah to the Democratic National Convention. The Ambassador of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics and Mme. Troyanovsky will entertain at dinner this evening at the ! embassy on Sixteenth street. E The Japanese Ambassador and Mme. Saito and their family will leave Thursday for Virginia Beach, where they have taken a . cottage at the Princess Anne Golf Club for the Summer. The Greek Minister, Mr. Demetrios Sililicianos, was the honor guest at luncheon yesterday of Mrs. William Russell Burwell, who entertained at the Weylin in New York, where the Minister is spending a few days. Byrnes have returned to their apartment at the Shoreham after attending the Democratic con- vention in Philadelphia. They will pass three or four days in Washington before going to their home at Spartanburg, S. C. Senator William E. Borah left Washington last night for Idaho. He delayed his departure for his home State so that he might spend his 71st birthday anniversary with Mrs. Borah, who expects to leave the Capital in two weeks to join Senator Borah in Boise. Gen. and Mrs. Robert C. Davis spent the week end at the Carlton, having come on from their home in New York City. Lieut.
