“THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, 'D. C, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25, 1935. - INANTINDSPUTE i | ORDERED 0 COUR N ew '93 6 By the Associated Press. ST. LOUIS, October 25.—An order for Mrs. Nellie Tipton Muench to produce in court a child. she an- nounced as her own, but which is . claimed by an unwed mother, brought to a climax today the bizarre develop- ments in the Muench-Ware missing ‘ | baby case. ¥ Special Commissioner Rush D. Lim- baugh's order, along with the arrest of Mrs. Muench's lawyer friend, Wil- fred Jones, were culminating develop- ] ments in a speetacular day in the court of appeals hearing on the case. Jones was arrested as he left the eourt room after Commissioner Lim- baugh accused him of “perjury of the| ° most flagrant character.” He was re- leased on bond. The Commissioner made the per« Jury charge while hearing testimony in the habeas corpus suit brought by Anna Ware, 19-year-old servant girl, who is attempting to recover a baby son born to her August 17 in a mid- wife's home. Miss Ware said Jones arranged for her to come here for her baby's birth and asserted the child was in posses- sion of Mrs. Muench and her hus- band, Dr. Ludwig O. Muench. . The Muenches announced the birth of a'son a day after Miss Ware's child was born. Mrs. Muench at the time was preparing her ultimately success- ful defense against charges in the Dr. I D. Kelly kidnaping trial. Commissioner Limbaugh’s order that the baby in the Muench home be produced in court stated, “The physical presence of the child in court is material to the proceedings * * *.” The commissioner did not mention any specific instance in which he be- lieved Jones had perjured himself. During his two days on the witness stand Jones denied without qualifica- tion almost every identification of him made in various aspects of the case by ofher witnesses. U. S.
