J. W. ADAMS DIES IN FREDERICKSBURG Clerk of Corporation Court 16 Years Was Leader in Civic Activities. Epecial Dispatch to The Star. FREDERICKSBURG, Va., 13.—J. Willard Adams, 70, clerk of the Corporation Court of Predericks- burg for 16 years, died suddenly at his home last night. He had been in failing health for some months, but had continued at work. Mr. Adams was a leader in civic August | and religious activities. He was & graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and for many years was proprietor of a book and stationery store. He | became clerk in 1919 and was twice re-elected. He was secretary of the Mutual Building & Loan Association, superintendent of the Presbyterian Sunday school and an elder of the church. He was the first president of the local Kiwapis Club and had been prominent in musical activities. Mr. Adams was born in 1885 in the house in which he died. His wife, Mrs. Belle Barney Adams, died about two months ago. Mr. Adams is sur- vived by a son, Prof. N. B. Adams of the University of North Carolina, and a daughter, Mrs. John Dare of this city. Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Wil- son Anderson, 67, who died in Union Station yesterday afternoon after being stricken on a train, will be held at her home, in Louisville, Ky., tomorrow, according to an Associated Press dis- patch. Mrs. Anderson and her husband, Lawrence L. Anderson, were en route from Louisville to visit a daughter, Mrs. James Edward Hooper, in Rux- ton, Md., when she became {ll. Cor- oner A. Magruder MacDonald issued a certificate attributing death to nat- ural causes after learning from Mr. Anderson that his wife previously had suffered from heart trouble. Mr. Anderson and the daughter, Mrs. Hooper, were reported returning to Louisville last night. Three sons of the Andersons live in Louisville. They are Lawrence L. Anderson, jr., an official of the Mengel Co.; Sir William Watson was born Au- gust 2, 1858, in Bufley-m-qurfe- dale, Yorkshire. His first work, “The Prince’s Quest,” appeared when he was 22, but he did not win recognition in 1890, when his “Wordworth’s Grave” appeared.
