In an analysis of the banking situ- ation in Washington completed today by Audley A. P. Savage, auditor of the National Savings & Trust Co., it is brought out that aggregate de- posits in the 22 local banks and trust companies on June 29, 1935, showed a gain of $9,742,032.79 in the first six months of the present year and an| advance of $30,434,415.69 in the last 12 months. As noted on the day of the recent call, total deposits were | off $8.639,712.03, as compared with the call of March 3 of this year. Mr. Savage's survey shows that every one of the savings banks had an increase in deposits in comparison with the March call. In the national bank group, seven of the nine insti- tutions reported decreases. while four of the five trust companies made simi- lar reports. The national bank group had a decrease of $7.953,2%5.39 over March end the trust company de- | crease totaled $1,222.569.05. The in- crease among the eight savings banks | totaled the moderate sum of $536.- | 132.41, the survey reveals. | Deposits in the 22 banks on Junei 1935, totaled $266,586,839.82, against $275226,551.85 three months ago. It will be recalled that total deposits on the March call in this city were the highest since the Na-| tion-wide bank holiday.
