Justice John W. Preston, himself a golfer and member of the Hole-in-One Club, held that John R. Haynes, Los Angeles, could resign from the An- nandale Golf Club, despite a by-laws provision requiring a successor be first obtained. The club had refused his resignation and he sued. Justice Preston declared that “doubtless this is the only case in history where a golf club has failed to heed the plaintive cry of one of its flock.” CELEBRATES AT 103 ABERDEEN, Wash, July 3 (#.— Samuel Benn, patriarch, sage and close observer of world affairs—who regards the Townsend old sge pen- sion plan as rubbish—observed his 103d birthday anniversary today.
