BY VICTOR EUBANK, Associated Press Financial Writer, NEW YORK, June 27.—The stock market showed quiet resistance today to such developments as a sharp break in the domestic copper price and the decision of another railroad to seek reorganization under the Federal bankruptey laws. 5 A sprinkling of oil, glass, copper and rail shares lost ': to 3 points, but the bulk of the list was barely changed, and a few industrials closed fraction- ally higher. The close was irregular. Sales approximated 750,000 shares, Eyes were still focused on Washing- ton and taxes, and the ability to with- stand the rail and copper news was regarded as springing partly from the fact that both were expected. In the bond market, the decision of the Chi- cago and Northwestern to seek re- organization under section 77 prompted some seling of second grade rails Grains dipped slightly, while eotton was steady. Foreign exchanges moved narrowly. The Chicago & Northwestern stocks, which have been selling at “reorgan- ization” prices for some time, dipped fractionally. In non-ferrous metals, | the break in the price of first hand copper to 8 from 9 cents was partly offset by fresh agitation in Washing- ton for silver. Anaconda and Kennecort lost frac- tions, but American Smelting, U. 8. Smelting and Cerro de Pasco were higher. American Can and Continen- tal rose slightly, and Dupont was firm Such stocks as U. S.
