FIN RAILROAD BONDS SAG NEAR CLOSE Utility Issues Stage Rally as Result of Modified Bill in House. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, June 19.—Railroad bonds weakened in the late trading. While utility issues rallied under the influence of betterssentiment engen- dered by the less drastic holding com- pany bill submitted by the House In- terstate and Foreign Commerce Com- mittee. Loans of American Water Works, Columbia Gas & Electric and Ameri- can Foreign Power were among those showing substantial closing gains. NEW YORK, June 19.—Sweltering weather in several sections of the country has brought brisk business into Summer clothing departments, as indicated by the reorders received here in the last few days. Although cotton, tropical worsteds and other Summer cloths benefited from quickened retail sales, linen was most talked about by importers, cloth- ing manufacturers and jobbers. They discussed the rise in flax, yarmn and linen cloth, the rapid completion of flax sowings in various parts of the world and the number of novelties developed. Clothing manufacturers ascribe the present popularity of linen to the fact that it absorbs moisture more rapidly than cotton and is said to be cooler. Men are emerging from an ege of careless individuality in costume and are trying to attain the perfection achieved by women in their apparel, FINANCIAL, Offer to Exchange Shares Disclosed By Aviation Corp.
