BOSTON, April 5.—Homer Albers, elderly social registerite and dean of Boston Universtiy Law School, today was named as one of the principal organizers of the Winchester Institute of Finance in testimony before the Federal Securities Commission in- vestigation into the institute and other financial organizations and in- dividuals. s Other prominent educators also were named as associated with the iNtitute. John L. Flynn, counsel for the com- mission, characterized the proceedings as the first hearing given to investors who lost millions. He offered to end the hearings if counsel for the in- stitute would take the case into a court of law. A letter from the institute, replying to an inquiry from the advertising | department of a New York gnewspaper (the Times) admitted as an exhibit, listed the following as members of the institute staff: Prof. Ray Burke Westerfield of Yale, Prof. Ivan Wright | of the University of Illinois, Prof.| John G. Shaffer of the Universtiy of | Southern California, John A. Ball, jr., instructor, Catholic University, Wash- ington, D. C. The hearing is a fact-finding in-| quiry into the affairs of William L. Jarvis, the Winchester Institute, A. E. Gibbs & Co. and others, to determine if the Federal securities act of 1933- 34 had been violated.
