LARCOMBE DIES IN MARYLAND Widow of Washington Con- tractor Will Be Buried Tomorrow. By & Staft Correspondent of The Sta: WASHINGTON GROVE, Md., March 26.—Mrs. Mary Alice Larcombe, 85, widow of John S. Larcombe, sr., for- mer Washington contractor and di- rector of the Riggs National Bank, died last night at her home, near here. Her death is believed to have resulted from heart trouble caused by shock from a fall in her home recently. Mrs. Larcombe was the daughter of THE EVENING STAR, 'WASHINGTON, Ulysses Griffith and Julia Riggs Grif- fith, first cousin of the founder of the Riggs Bank. Mrs. Larcombe was also & direct descendant of Lieut. Col. Henry Griffith of the Revolutionary Army, one of the three commissioners who laid out the boundaries of Mont- gomery County when it was separated from Federick County shortly after the close of the Revolution. Mrs. Larcombe made her home here her permanent residence several years ollowing the death of her hus- band in 1930. Prior to that time the family maintained a Winter home in ‘Washington. Mrs. Larcombe is survived by a son, John 8. Larcome of Washington Grove; a grandson, Blair Burwell Stringfellow, and two young grand- children. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2:30 o'clock ' tomorrow afternoon. Rev. John J. Callaghan, pastor of St. Martin's Catholic Church, Gaithersburg, will officiate. McVelgh, jr, well-known news- paper man, died yesterday at his home here after an illness of nearly a year. He was 66. editor of the New York Evening Post. He was Sunday editor of the Phila- delphia Public Ledger for six years and for 18 was an editorial executive of the old New York World. He tounded the “metropolitan section” in the paper's Sunday edition and for several years was suggestion editor and the World's daily critic for the owners. with his parents to Detroit. A, retired, pioneer in Army aviation and one of 15 original mili- tary aviators. died March 17 in Port Townsend, Wash., after a long illness, according to word just received here. Graduating from West Point in 1909, Col. Morrow entered aviation in 1914. He served overseas in England and France as chief of Air Service, 3d Corps, 1st American Army, during the Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne operations. He retired in December, 1922, at his own request. Col. Morrow was born in Scottdale, Pa., December 5, 1889. He is survived by three brothers d two sisters: Clarence W. and Merrill C.
