Meanwhile, with mind alert, Rhonda Terry lay lis- tening to the diminishing sounds of the camp and watching the lone sentry who squatted half-dozing at the fire, his back toward her. She leaned over and whispered to Naomi: “When I get up, follow me. That's all you have to do, but don't make any noise!” “What are you going to do? We can't go out there in the forest—with the lions! And if the Arabs catch us trying to escape, they'll kill us!” Naomi's voice quavered in rhythm with her trembling body. “Shut up and do as I tell you!” Rhonda replied sharply under her breath. “Come on! Quick!” Shrewdly Atewy continued: “No, Eyad, we shall not fare very well—unless——" “Unless what?” “Un- less an accident should befall Ab el-Ghrennem!" “Accidents befall sheiks even as they befall others,” Eyad announced philosophically. Thus content with m:i z;:m: of their plot, the conspirators lay down and slept. When Eyad showed interest in having one of the white girls for his harem, Atewy pressed his point. “But you will not get one, for the sheik is going to keep them both. And you know, too, that the sheik’s share of the diamonds will be a fourth. If there were no sheik, we should divide more!” ANNAPOL READY TOWELCONE NGE Inauguration Tomorrow Is Awaited With Gayly Decorated Streets. By the Assoclated Press.
