ALON DIES OF HEART DISEASE Representative From Ala-: bama Succumbs at Age of 73. Representative Edward B. Almon, 73, of Tuscumbia, Ala.. died of heart dis- ease early today at his suite in the George Washington Inn. Almon was chairman of the House Roads Committee and a leading advo- cate of Government operation of Muscle | Shoals, which was in his district. Representative Almon was bormm in Lawrence County, Ala., and educated in the rural schools near Moulton, in the State Normal School, Florence. Ala., and the State University, where he re-| ceived his law degree. He was admitted | to the bar in 1885, and served in the State Senate from 1897 to 1894. In 1896 he was a presidential elector | on the ticket of Bryan and Sewell, and | in 1898 he was made judge of the Cir- cuit Court of the eleventh judicial cir-| cuit in Lis State, serving for eight years. He served in the Alal House of Representatives from 1910 to 1915, and was Speaker in 1911, He came to ‘Washington in 1915, and had served in Congress continuously since. Besides his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James A. Ryder of this city, Tuscumbia. Although suffering from heart disease for some time, Almon continued to at- tend sessions of the House until the erd of the Congress.
