A call for a new “Continental Con- gress” of “the working people of the Nation” has been signed by 99 officials of recognized and responsible labor groups, calling the congress to meet in Washington May 6 and 7, ac g to Emil Rieve, vice president of the United Textile Workers of America. Rieve said that virtually all the labor leaders signing the appeal were heads of organizations af ted with the American Federation of Labor. Nor- man Thomas has signed as Socialist, he said, “and it is expected the Socialist party will join officially in the coali- tion movement.” The call said in part: “On Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7, representatives of farm and labor organizations will assemble at the Na- tional Capital in a new Continental Congress—for economic reconstruction.
