By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, March 17.—Tech- nocracy, which burst across the Nation like a skyrocket and then fell onto the ground of internal dissension, issued a statement last night. For weeks nothing had been heud from the organization which storms of controversy while. pumnng s study of economic conditions on the Columbia University campus. But last night's statement, on fancy stationery bearing the name of “How- ard Scott, director,” in effect stated the reports of technocracy’s death were premature. Some of Scott's old ideas are restated and some new and more far-sweeping ones are listed. Technocracy, it is stated, now has two purposes: mental understanding of the underlying | Sistan developing a design for scientific con- trol of social evolution, and “2. To form an association for mu- tual protection of those portions of the population who desire to begin build- ing protection now against the conse- quences of the threatened crisis.” The statement also says technocracy “believes that the substitution of tech- nologists in place o! politicians and profiteers will some day be demanded by the population.” The statement was issued by John V. Dlt'.emore and listed him as chairman of the “Continental Committee on Or- as director. Mocore, professor of psychology at Catholic University. There are some psychiatrists, h! said, who feel that the patient’s nliglous ideas are a major symptom in his dis- order, and that the fundamental prob- lem in analysis is to break down what the analyst regards as the patient’s un- reasonable superstition, and so free him from mental attitudes which in the analyst'’s mind set limits to the un- trammeled developments of tient’s personality. This, he said, leads them to & very superficial philosophy of treatment which Freud himself has termed “psy- choanalysis gone wild.” The lecture was for the benefit of St. Gertrude's School of Arts and Crafts, —_— TODAY’S AMUSEMENTS.
