CHICAGO, January of rain in domestic Winter crop terri- tory Southwest tended to weaken wheat prices today, although little moisture- was indicated where drought had been worst. ‘Winnipeg messages said more than 700,000 bushels of Canadian wheat was taken today for shipment overseas in addition to 1,000,000 bushels bought terday. Further disastrous dust storms in Texas were noted, but the market lacked any energetic_speculative purchase move- ment. Uncertainties of legislative ac- tion at Washington were among the | reasons which traders gave for the | bearish course of values. Selling pressure on wheat was only of a scattered sort, and declines re- sulted as much from the market’s own weight as from other causes, including suggestions of rain Southwest. Most of the firms in this city have had a minimum charge of $5 on each trans- action for a long time. President Lockwood, who is with Hemphill Noyes & Co.. will preside at the dinner as host.
