Bpecial Dispatch to The Star. NEW YORK, September 29.—Junior bonds reacted after a strong opening today, paralleling the movement of the stock market following declines in com- modities. Meanwhile, however, high- grade bonds continued their upward trend unimpeded by outside factors. Forejgn dollar bonds were also strong. ! Opening gains ranged from !, point | in stasoned bonds such as New York Central debenture 4s, Great Northern 7s, Dodge Brothers 6s. Goodyear 5s, ‘Western Union 5s and Philadelphia Co. 55 to & point or more in highly specu- lative issues, including Erie Refunding 5s, Nickel Plate 51;, United States Rub- ber 5s, McKesson & Robbins 5128, In- ternational Telephone 5s and American & Foreign Power 5s. But the advances were nearly all converted into small net declines in later selling. In the high-grade market new highs were reached by the cream of the rail list—Atchison general 4s, Burlington 4155, Norfolk & Western 4s and Union sucfic nrsu as. September 29 (United States Department of Agricul- ture).—In comparison with last sea- son average tcbacco prices on the Middle North Carolina belt markets are materially higher. The percentage of increase was greatest in the lowest qualities and least in the better qualities. Average prices—Orange leaf B 4 F, 20.50; B 5 F, 1410. B 6 F. 9.70. Lemon lugs, X 1 L, 23.60; X 2 L, 20.50; X 3 L. 13.10. Orange lugs, X 2 F, 20.00; X 3 F, 13.90; X 4 F. 8.00. Sales were light at Oxford, lasting!
