HODVER RELIEVED | OF BALLOT DRIVE National Committee to Take Responsibility for Directing Coming Campaign. By the Astociated Press. CHICAGO. July 13—Contrary to 1928, the brunt oz the Republican cz - paign direction this year will be baiue | by_the National Committee. President Hoover will be freed of all details save those of his addresses This was the outline drafted yester- day by Everett Sanders, chairman of the National Committee after a White Housc visit. “We will follow closely.” Sanders said, “the campaign of 1924. In 1928, Hoover was not President and was able, and did, devote all his time to manag- ing his own cempaign. He actively directed the work in the national head- querters in Washington Will Attend Duties. “Now, we must do most of this work for him. The Naticnal Committee must leave him as free as possible to attend to the duties of the presidency.” With this directorship partial divorced, the national headquarters has been more conveniently centered in | Chicago. To aid Sanders and other officers | of the National Committee, 15 members were named as an Executive Com- mittee. While named primarily for the campaign, these committeemen and committeewomen will serve for the next | 1g; four years. Under Sanders’ outline of organiza- tlon work, the State chairmen will serve as the keystones. New Conditions Met. These chairmen, who will frequently \ visit the Chicago headquarters during | the corung months, will supervise th- | campaign in their States. The national | committee members will serve as aides | between them and Sanders The national cha*man was silent on | President’s Hoover's activities, except to | say the speech of acceptance would | robably be made about the same day as | last i early in August “We had to meet a different condi- tion this year” Sanders said. “The speech of acceptance of the Demoeratic | nominee was made at once. According to Mr. Lawrence the appu- cation will have to be approved by the local Zoning Board of Appeals because of the fact that land the new broad- | casting station is to be erected on is now zoned residential. The board is | expected to give its approval at a ses- | sion tomorrow night, he said. Plans submitted with the application | call for & colonial one-story brick struc- ture, 62 feet by 63 feet. It is to be | located 155 feet west of the Mount Vernon Memorial Highway. The tow- ers are to be placed in marsh ground near the building.
