Robbin Sunday Aafternoon. J. A. Steuart, author of “Cap of | Youth,” the love story of Robert Louis Stevenson; “The Immortal Lover,” & Robert Burns romance, and other books, has died at Bottle, Scotland, aged 69. By the Associated Press. LOS ANGELES, July 8—Three of Hollywood's most famous _figures Charles Chaplin, Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, all of whom were ploneers in the film industry—are in- dicated as the screen colony's three wealthiest individuals in tax assessment Tolls published today. Chaplin, who made his money by making funny antics performed with a cane, derby hat and a pair of baggy > trousers, listed taxable stocks and bonds Il i s s =g FINAL LAST DAY REDUCTIONS | SATURDAY | amounting to $295,000 also were listed by the film comedian. Mary Pickford Second. Second to Chaplin on the tax rolls is Mary Pickford, with stocks worth $2,- 316,940, interests in foreign trusts amounting to $176,190 and real estate valued at $192,260. Mary's husband, Douglas Fairbank's, ranks third with stocks worth $1,384,- 690, interests in foreign trusts of $236,- 760 and real estate assessed at $75,480, in addition to his home, listed at $70,170. How much wealth Chaplin, Fairbanks and Miss Pickford have in non-taxable securities was a matter of conjecture. Other Assessments. Other facts revealed by the assess- ment rolls were: Harold Lloyd carries most of his tax- able wealth in real estate, his home being assessed at $190,480, its furniture at $40,750 and other property at $152,- 780. He has $174,450 invested in tax- able stocks. Constance Bennett, rated the highest paid film star, has but $200 taxable furniture in her Malibu Beach home. Greta Garbo's automobile is taxed only for $220. John Barrymore's bird aviary has an assessed valuation of $500. Gloria Swanson has a harp with a taxable value of $350.
