Western High School late yesterday graduated 324 students who had com- pleted its four-year course. Only the salutatory of John Bahmer Hickam and the valedictory of Louise McKirdy, honor graduates, provided oratory for the exercises, which were presided over, | by Mrs. Henry Grattan Doyle, vice president of the Board of Education. The program marked a salute to W. Edwin Priest, teacher of history, who retired yesterday after 43 years of serv- ice in the District, public schools. Ad- dressing Mr. Priest himself, John Keith, president of the graduating class, con- gratulated the instructor on behalf of the class, asserting that the retirement means for Mr. Priest “the ending of a specified term of service here and the beginning of an undertermined program clsewhere.” It promptly was maved, seconded and unanimously voted that the retiring educator be made an hon- ornary member of the class of 1932. Louise McKirdy Leads Class. Louise McKirdy was named honor graduate, with the highest rating of any member of the class. Other honor graduates were announced by Dr. Elmer S. Newton, principal, as follows, in the order of their scholarship attainments: John Hickam, Mary Jane Upson, Ches- ter Morill, Catherine Bour, Richard Creyke. Kathryn Terhune, Raymond Lewis, Nancy Brehm and Ione Casto. The graduates who completed the course in three years were named as garet Allen Franklin, Margaret men'i.
