For the first time since its inception. the annual pilgrimage of Georgetown gardens is to take place this year early enough for visitors to view the first rush | ©f Spring blooms. i ' April 15 and 16 were announced yes- terday as the dates for this year's pil-|| grimage. Funds raised will be donated for child welfare work in Georgetown. At that time the gardens will be blooming in cow forget-me-nots, | blue phlox, pansies and old-fashioned clover pinks, along with the tulips and early iris. TOUR WILL BE MADE OF OLD GEORGETOWN | Benefit for St. John's Church Is Arranged This Year for April 1 and 2. The third annual inspection tour of eighteenth century Georgetown, ar- ranged for the benefit of St. John's Church, Georgetown, will be held this year April 1 and 2. Busses start from Peck Memorial Chapel, Twenty-eighth | and M streets, at half-hour intervals beginning at 1:30 o'clock. The first stop will be made at the old Russian embassy, 3322 O street, now owned by Francis C. DeWolf. Fifteen minutes will be given over fo an in- spection of this famous landmark. The next stop will be at 3123 Dum- barton avenue. This house was built by Henry Foxall, owner of the Foxall cannon and gun foundry and donor of the first land for Foundry Methodist Church, for his daughter, Mrs. Samuel McKenney. The house is now owned by Henry Foxall's great-granddaughter, Mrs. Edith A. McCartney. At 2715 Q street, the busses will stop at Bellevue, the home of Charles Car- roll, built in 1760. This old residence has been renamed Dumbarton House. Bellevue is said to have sheltered Dolly Madison during the War of 1812 and was later the home of the Ritten- house family. It is now owned by the Colonial Dames of America. On the shore of nearby Rock Creek stood Lyon's “flouring” mill, and above it, on the Washington hills, Kalorama, where many early Georgetownians gathered. On the waters of Rock Creek, adjolning Kalorama, Robert Fulton tried out the model of his successful steamboat, The last stop will be made at the Decatur House, home of Judge James 8. Morsell for many years. It is now owned by M. F. Gunther. Mrs. Jeffer- son R. Kean, 2804 N street, is in charge of arrangements.
