nflm:_ BANK CONFIDENCE | AND CREDIT GROW Five Hundred Million Pool| Head Reports Applications for Loans Small. B9 the Associated Press. NEW YORK, November 18—Indica- tion that banking confidence and credit wre rapidly being restored was containéd in a statement issued last night by Mortimer H. Buckuer, president of the National Credit Corporation, showing that spplications for advances from banks ve thus far been relatively small, | It 'was stated that subscriptions to | the @orporation’s gold notes probably | wpuld exceed the $500,000,000 originally estimated by those who formulated the | plan following upon President HMV!!!I suggestion. Since the formation of the corpora- tion, 4 was sald, there has been no| necessity for the officers to issue an dnitial call for the payment of 10 per cent of the banks' subscriptions to its | §0ld notes. 1 Advances Are Made. Since, on November 6, the officers of | fhe corporation were instructed, in thelr discretion, to issye such a call, the corporation, says the statement, “has tendered its facilities and has actually made advances to fully organized asso- | ciations under the terms and conditions | of the credit plan without the neces- sity of issuing & call.” | “This has been accomplished,” the statement continues, “through the co- | eration of certain individual banks ‘which are willing to make advances and hold funds available to the National Credit Corporation pending a cal' for | payment on account of subscriptions to | the corporation’s gold notes. “When the advances to subscribing banks in fully organized associations |- accumulate to an amount that is deemed sufficient, & call for payment thereby. . Relief to Banks Seen. “The officers of -the National Credit Corporation belleve this procedure, rather than a call for installment pay- ment on subscriptions at this time, should relieve some banks of the bur- den of subscription and be more satis- factory generally to banks throughout the country. “It may be interesting to bankers and to the public generally to learn | ‘ that in number and amount the ad-| vances already made by the corporation | through fully organized local associa- tions of banks and the applications for advances now known to be in prepara- tion or in transit to the home office have been relatively amal].” All applications and loans are of a confidential nature, it is pointed out, and the corporation does not intend to make public the name of applicant banks or the amounts of advances. “The response of banks everywhere to the corporation’s invitation to sub- ‘scribe,” the statement concludes, “not | only is fully up to expectations, hut‘ also reflects a fine spirit of co-opera- | tion among the banks of the country. These subscriptions, as already an- nounced, ue on th: basis of 2 per cent of net demand and time depoclu mt exceedln[ 10 per cent of their capi exceptions are requirements.” | Paul's Church auditorium, Fifteenth QUICK RELIEF " FROM Leading Lady ' IN “ADAM AND EVE" CHURCH PLAY.
