Mr. Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes spent the day yesterday at Gloucester, Mass,, where he went from his Summer home at Swampscott, Mass. The dis- tinguished jurist visits the city annually to view the wood carving that hangs | in the corridor of the city hall, in memory of the men of his wife's family. The carving depicts a spar lashed to & floating hatch. It was presented to the city in 1901 by the late Mrs. Holmes. Mr. Justice Holmes has visited the hall annually for the last 30 years. The Cuban Ambassador to Mexico, Benor Don Marquez Sterling, and Senora de Sterling are at the Shore- ham Hotel, where they have taken an apartment. .
