FROSTBURG, Md., August 17.—The thirteenth annual convention of the Department of Maryland, American Legion, will be held here next Thurs- day, Priday and Saturday. At the same time the tenth annual convention of the State American Legion Auxiliary and eighth annual meeting of the La Societe 40 Hommes et 8 Chevaux will meet. Gov. Albert C. Ritchie has accepted | sn invitation to speak at the banguet in Beall High School Auditorium Fri- day evening. Department Comdr. George Henderson of Cumberland will preside. 2,000 Visitors Expected. Two thousand visitors are expected, according to Rudolph Nickel, former member of the Maryland Legislature, who is general chairman of the Con- vention Committee. Correspondence re- ceived by Mr. Nickel and Fred W. Boettner, general secretary, indicates that at least 1400 will come from| Baltimore and the Eastern Shore. A pre-convention celebration will be held Wednesday under direction of Timothy Cullen, former commander of Farraday Post, No. 24, host to the con- vention, and chairman of the “40 and 8.
