Further congressional consideration of the equalization fee and export de- benture plans of farm relief appeared |} l!kely today with the readvocacy of the hitherto ill-starred proposals by farm organizations. ! = Congress has often resounded with debates as to their merits as agricul- tural aids. President Coolidge wanted mone of them, however, and their recep- tion by President Hoover has been equally cool. + Renewed sponsorship of the fee by the American Farm Bureau and the export debenture by the National Grange presages that one or both will be back on the calendar in the next Congress. Same Results Promised. ‘They are unalike, although their sup- porters claim they would accomplish the same result—getting the farmer out of his economic slough. Under the fee plan a surplus depress- ing the price of wheat, for instance, would be removed through purchases of the excess supply with funds advanced by the board from its revolving fund. Before this is done, a fee to cover point of processing, point of transporta- tion, or place of sale for market. ‘The farmer would not pay the fee directly. It would be collected from the trade much after the manner of the Federal tobacco tax. Ultimate Sale Abroad.
