The government also asked authority to suppress all superfiluous public serv- ices, reduce expenses of all government departments to the minimum and re- duce salaries of government employes and army officers. Extroardinary taxes proposed would affect transports. electric power, the textile industry, tobacco, matches, soda water, the use of federal-owned waters for power and other purposes, the capi- tal or income of Mexicans residing abroad and the profits obtained by in- dividuals or business concerns as a result of the financial fluctuation.
