MANS EFFOENCY | TOSPELHS 00N So Prophesies Munich Pro- fessor, Who Says Modern Technique Is a Menace. B the Associated Press. BERLIN. May 8.—Man's rising effi- ciancy and increasing technique will spell his doom before long. Dr. Oswald Spengler, philosopher of Munich Uni- yersity, has told the annual meeting of the Deutscheg Museum. * Prophesying an impending tragic end o humanity. he said: “The rise of mod- ern technique means its end: in other words, an unparalelled catastrophe will follow. “It is impossible to hold to the level ©f modern technique without a nation of 100,000 highly qualified human be- ings. but there is no guarantee that these 100,000 really exist. “Anyway, there is a grave menace of & lack of leading personalities during the coming generation. The Roman Empire fell for much the same rea- sons. The future way is either to pro- ceed until the end comes or to revise our ccdes and then all that is left is heroism.” Several years ago in his book, “Der Untergag Des . Abendlandes’—The De- cline of the West—Dr. Spengler pre- dicted a collapse of Western civilization. Rhythm Classes to Give Recital. Rhythm classes at Macfarland Com- munity Center, under the direction of Miss Prances Brightwell, will give their annual recital at the Center, Towa ave- Pue at Webster street, at 2 o'clock to- night. Miss Brightweil will be assisted by Miss Jane Wiison, with Mrs. Nell N Wilson and Mrs, Vera Robertshaw as pianists. TODAY'S AMUSEMENTS.
