Chickens like children, it appears, are subject to rickets when they do not get their vitamin D in sufficient quantity. “The bureau has carried this phase of the work as far as possible, though other exp:riments are still going on with fish oils,” representative Free said. Production Cost Cheaper. “American fish oil can be produced at one-fourth the cost of cod liver ofl —and the American fish ofl industry is not thriving. “We feel quite certain,” Free added, “we will soon develop a big market for American oils and cut costs for chicken growers.” i J.
