Use. ,The Pennsylvania Rallroad is push- | ing its program of electrification be- tween New York and Washington and expects shortly to begin letting con- tracts for electric locomotives, 240 of which eventually will be purchased, it was said this morning at the general offices of the railroad in Philadelphia. At present the line is electrified be- tween Wilmington, Del, and Trenton, N. J., and electric motive power is ex- pected to be in use over the whole of the route from the Capital to New York within about two and one-half years. ‘The electrification work is being cen- tered now at Newark and Baltimore, where engineering surveys are in prog- ress. The next sections on which electrifi- cation will be completed will be those north from Trenton and south from Wilmington, but it was said at the of- fices of the raflroad that no opinion could be advanced as to when addi- tional electrified operation would be possible.
