Brown to Open Lenten Services of Federa- tion of Churches. ‘The annual noonday Lenten services under the auspices of the Washington Federation of Churches, will begin Mon- day at the New York Avenue Presby- terian Church. These .services will te held from 12 to 1 o'clock each day until Easter, excepting Saturdays and Sundays. ‘The speaker for the first week is Dr. Charles Reynolds Brown, dean emeritus of Yale Divinity School. He served in that position for 15 years, having a national reputation. Frcm 1913 to 1915 he was moderator of the National Coun- cil of Congregational Churches. ‘The subjects for his series of addresses next week are as follows: “What Has Religion for Us?” “The Present Chal- | lenge to Religion,” “Have We Outgrown the Bible?” “Standards,” “How Much Do You Want?” ‘These services are open to the public. The presiding officers during the coming week will be Dr. A. R. Bird, president of the federation, and Dr. John Weid- ley, chairman of the Committee on Public Meetings, whicn has the services directly in charge. The organist will be Paul W. Pishbaugh and Norton M.
