8 Phi Mu Holds Annual Banquet on Wednesday To Mark .Annivernry Annual Convention of Phi|j Gamma Pi in Philadelphia | Attended by Local Girls. ‘The Washington Alumnae Association of Phi Mu Fraternity and members of the Beta Alpha Chapter at George Washington University will hold their annual banquet in the palm room of the Shoreham Hotel Wednesday eve- B o bacqust. selsbrates the 1t e t celel seventy- ninth anniversary of the founding of Phi Mu Praternity. Members of the committee have arranged an interest- which includes several fraternity numbers. A scholarship award will be ted to the member of the active has made the highest les for the past year. Mrs. Marian rker Hagan, District president of Phi Mu, will be the toastmistress. Miss Lonnelle Davison, who is in charge of arrangements, is assisted by Miss Elizabeth Chamblin and Miss Louise Jaquette. Following the banquet there will be a dance given by the pledges in nonor of the active and alumnae chapters. The annual Convention of the Phi Gamma Pi Sorority was held at the Hotel Adelphia, Philadelphia, on Febru- ary 21, 22 and 23. Miss Tillie Udoff, as grand chancellor, and Miss Betty Kron- man, as grand scribe, took an active part in the business sessions of the convention. Other local girls attend- ing were Miss Blanche Kronman, Miss Rose Plotnick, Miss Miriam Buchalter, Miss Yetta Halpen, Miss Ruth Rosett, Miss Fannie Luchs and Miss Rebecca Rosenblum. The next meeting of the Grand Council of the sorority will be held in Washington. The University of Michigan Alumnae Club will be entertained by the Exec- utive Committee at the home of Mrs. W. C. Mendenhall, 9 Lenox street, Chevy Chase, Md., at a buffet supper, Tuesday, March 3, at 6:15 o'clock. ‘There will be the regular Priday lunch- eon at the A. A. U. W. March 6. Beta Chapter of Sigma Kappa Phi Sorority gave a most enjuyl,bre semi- closed tea dance at the Dodge Tea Hut on Monday, Febru: 23. ‘The regular meeting of the chapter was held on Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Behrens, 1235 Ran- dolph street northwest. Alpha Chapter of Sigman Tau Gamma Sorority entertained 20 tots from the Central Union Mission at the Ambassador Theater matinee perform- ance of “Silver Horde” yesterday after- noon. Miss Ruth Duckett, social chair- man of the sorority, arranged tberlnyy which included 14 members of the society and the children from the mission. Sigma Tau Gamma has planned other events of a similar nature for the comi months., according to Miss Anne , president of the group. Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity will hold its initiation banquet at the ‘Cariton Hotel this evening, following formal ceremonies to be held at the Beta hAnghl Chapter rooms today.
